The interior architecture of the Istanbul (IST) Airport Terminal Pier Structures were designed as vault and cross vault forms which are influenced by Turkish history and heritage.
Structural design, engineering services, manufacturing and installation of 5.000 tons of structural steel and space frame works are executed by POLARKON. The size of the pier areas of the entire terminal structure is approximately 145.000 m² and the structure in the linear character is 2.500 meters in length. With the help of the space frame solution, the roof support in the form of a vault has decreased module amount and expedited the installation.
